During the 1960s and 1970 the Turkish film industry was in shambles. To aleviate this, filmmakers began making mockbusters of popular American Hollywood films. Made on a shoe string budget and a blatant disregard to copyright law, a slew of these films were made. Most infamously, Turkish Star Wars. A film that straight lifted footage from the original film regarding the space battle scenes. This was in an effort to compensate for the lack of special fx available within the Turkish film industry. These copyright violations make these films virtually impossible to officially release. Leaving these films in a state of legal limbo. Thanks to the Abhorrent Archive, these films are now available.
